Overview
WELCOME TO THE POWER CYCLE™
A repeatable operating rhythm for Power Players
Most people are taught to work as if energy is linear. It isn’t. Because that’s not how energy works. And it’s not how sustainable authority is built.
The name of the game as a Power Player is to work with your natural rhythms, not try to override them with discipline, guilt, or productivity pretending.
The Power Cycle™ is a simple operating rhythm designed around phases, not schedules.
Each phase supports a different kind of work.
Each phase has a job.
And while the length of each phase can vary, they tend to follow one another naturally.
This rhythm exists to help you:
reduce overwhelm
make cleaner decisions
get meaningful work finished
and stop sabotaging momentum at predictable moments
You don’t force the phases. Or rush them.
You let each one do what it’s meant to do, so the next phase has something solid to build on.
There are four phases in the Power Cycle™:
PHASE 1: Ideation
PHASE 2: Activation
PHASE 3: Execution
PHASE 4: Recovery
None of the phases is optional. All of them matter.
Use this as a guide, not a rulebook.
PHASE 1: IDEATION
(When creative intelligence comes online)
This is your idea-density phase. Your brain wants novelty, stimulation, connection, and possibility.
This is not the time to finalise or commit. It’s the time to generate and connect.
You’ll feel more curious, more open, and more willing to explore angles you’d normally dismiss.
💡 What this phase is for:
Thinking expansively
Spotting patterns
Making connections
Letting ideas bump into each other
💻 How to work with it:
Change your environment
Let yourself wander mentally
Capture ideas without forcing structure
⚡️ Power Player activities:
Brain-dump ideas without editing them
Revisit old notes, half-written pieces, abandoned concepts
Work from different locations (cafés, creative spaces, anywhere but your usual desk)
Reach out to 10–20 people you feel drawn to reconnect with (no agenda)
Scan upcoming opportunities and notice what pulls you rather than what you “should” do
💭 Headphones on. Fancy water encouraged. Time distortion welcome.
PHASE 2: ACTIVATION
(When confidence + outward momentum becomes the name of the game)
This is when you move from internal clarity to external action.
Your tolerance for visibility and risk is higher. Your voice feels steadier. You’re less interested in approval and more interested in impact.
This is the phase to be seen and heard.
💡 What this phase is for:
Making decisions
Publishing
Pitching
Saying things out loud
💻 How to work with it:
Choose one or two ideas from Phase 1
Commit publicly
Engage with other humans
⚡️ Power Player activities:
Publish content (LinkedIn, email, video, whatever your channel is)
Pitch ideas to clients, collaborators, or decision-makers
Book and attend meetings, events, or conversations
Finalise plans you’ll execute in Week 3
Say the thing you’ve been rehearsing quietly
💭 This is your “big pants ON” week. Use it.
PHASE 3: EXECUTION
(When we get it done WITHOUT overthinking)
I lovingly call this "wobble phase."
Your confidence may dip. Doubt creeps in. Your brain starts scanning for “safer” things to work on and all the external reassurance.
This is not a sign that something’s wrong.
It’s a predictable phase.
The job here is simple: execute the plan you already made.
💡 What this phase is for:
Finishing stuff
Implementing stuff
Shipping stuff
Staying the course
💻 How to work with it:
Follow structure, not mood
Reduce decision-making
Keep momentum mechanical
⚡️ Power Player activities:
Execute the plan you set during Phase 2 without redesigning it
Work from a pre-planned schedule
Focus on completion over optimisation
Limit new inputs and opinions
Stay out of your own head (this is not a thinking phase)
💭 You are not allowed to question your entire business during this phase. You just hit the green button and keep it movin'.
PHASE 4: RECOVERY
(When integration + nervous system reset)
Recovery is a non-negotiable. Because rest isn’t a reward...It’s structural maintenance.
Power compounds when rest is intentional, not accidental, or done when time permits.
This phase is not for pushing, convincing, or social overload.
It’s for total integration.
💡 What this phase is for:
Rest (yep, the clue is in the title!)
Reflection
Inspiration
Letting ideas settle
💻 How to work with it:
Slow everything down
Reduce external demands
Keep things ticking over quietly
⚡️ Power Player activities:
Read, watch, or listen to things that expand your thinking
Take long walks and drink more water than usual
Go to bed earlier
Keep a notebook nearby for gentle ideas (no action required)
Review what worked without judging what didn’t
💭 Pyjamas are appropriate. Snacks are encouraged. Staring into space is hella productive here.
Getting Started.
The Power Cycle™ is a long-term tool, but right now we’re focused on understanding how you actually move, not how you think you should move.
So, for the next 90 days, we’re going to observe your natural rhythm. No fixing. No optimising. Just noticing.
Step 1: Track your phase daily
Access your tracker here: https://form.powerplayerplan.com/cycletracker
Then every day for the next 90 days, use this tracker to:
Fill in your first name
Fill in your email address
👉🏽 Make sure you use the same email every time you enter information in your daily log, as your record is attached to this email, and I will track your data through it.
Fill in the date for the day you’re logging.
Choose which of the four phases you were mostly in that day.
👉🏽 Answer this without self-interrogation. We don’t care about why. We only care about what.
Rate the intensity of the phase on a scale of 1–5 based on how strongly you felt "in" that phase:
1 = “Kind of there”
You can feel the phase, but it’s faint. Background noise level.
2 = “Noticeable, but not driving”
It’s present, but it’s not steering the day. You could override it if you had to.
3 = “Clearly here”
This phase is shaping your energy and behaviour, even if you’re not fully leaning into it.
4 = “Leading the day”
This phase is dominant. Your mood, focus, and decisions are clearly coming from here.
5 = “Fully in it”
Textbook version. Loud, obvious, unmistakable. Everything’s running through this phase.
👉🏽 Go with your first instinct. This isn’t about accuracy. It’s about patterns.
Finally, add any notes about the phase you’re in and the intensity you’re feeling.
👉🏽 This is completely optional. But if there's anything else happening for you professionally, personally, emotionally, biologically, etc., then relating it to your tracking might help underpin your pattern, or explain any outlier data.
That’s it. Click submit and send your tracker to me.
Step 2: Stop thinking about it
This part is important. It is not your job to analyse your tracking data. That’s mine.
Over the 90 days, patterns will emerge. I’ll cross-reference with our work together and reflect those patterns back to you as they become clear.
Then, armed with these awesome insights, we’ll talk through:
How your Power Cycle actually fits into your professional life
Where you tend to push when you shouldn’t, or where you can push, and you're not
Where your momentum is leaking (you're putting in all the energy, but the outcomes/results aren't proportional)
How to organise your work so your authority compounds rather than exhausts you.
A few things:
(Definitely read this if your brain is already twitching)
You don’t need to be “on track.”
What’s happening in your life right now doesn’t disqualify the data. It is the data. You don’t need to start on a Monday.
Your limbic system doesn’t know what day it is and does not care about calendar drama. You don’t need to start and finish each phase perfectly.
Humans are overlappy. Phases blur. That’s normal, and it won't affect your results. You don’t need to match anyone else’s pace.
The right speed through the Power Cycle is your speed.
The cycle will keep cycling whether you label it or not.
This framework just helps you stop fighting yourself and start working with what’s already happening.
One last thing, because it matters:
The cycle works because each phase feeds the next.
Skip recovery → execution collapses
Skip execution → ideas pile up
Skip ideation → work goes flat
Skip activation → nothing lands
Your power compounds when you honour the whole rhythm, not just the parts that look productive from the outside.
Because power isn’t about forcing consistency,
It’s about designing for real life.
